“It’s been an eventful week in the world of Yellowstone. Kevin Costner hinted that his Yellowstone story might not be over yet. Meanwhile, Paramount Network shared a fun behind-the-scenes video about Season 5, Part 2.”

The teaser highlighted how secretive production was, with actors getting scripts that only included their lines to avoid spoilers. “Audiences will see genuine reactions this year that weren’t rehearsed,” said Denim Richards in the video. Luke Grimes added, “The end of the series brought me to tears. It’s really good, and I think people will love it.”

So, when can fans watch the first new episode of Yellowstone since January 1, 2023? Here’s when the popular show returns to Paramount Network.

Is Yellowstone on Paramount Network Tonight (September 29)?

No new Yellowstone episode just yet. Instead, the network is airing an Indiana Jones movie marathon today, running from 12:00 p.m. ET to 4:00 a.m. ET.

“Snakes? Why did it have to be snakes?”

Is Kevin Costner Leaving Yellowstone?

On June 20, Kevin Costner confirmed his permanent exit from Yellowstone in a social media video. Later, in an interview with Extra’s Billy Bush, he explained that he was waiting for more details about his character’s fate, but they never came.

“I just hadn’t heard anything about how [John Dutton’s death] would be handled,” Costner said. “So it’s time to move on as gracefully as you can from something that’s been very important to you… It was time to move.”

That was back in June, but with Yellowstone, nothing is ever simple. Earlier this week, Kevin Costner hinted that his story might not be over yet. “I haven’t seen that dust trail coming toward me, but I’ve always been open to what I started,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “Five seasons was a lot for us to do, and I think that story is not finished.”

So, where does that leave us? When it comes to Yellowstone, anything is possible. In August, rumors circulated that the series could return for a sixth season, but that doesn’t seem likely. Filming has already wrapped on what’s being called the “series” finale, and cast members like Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, and Cole Hauser are describing it as the show’s “perfect ending.”

Kelly Reilly explained that the show was always meant to be five seasons in creator Taylor Sheridan’s mind, but its success led to the network and others wanting more. “Fate took it, and we ended this part of Yellowstone in a way that he always envisioned,” Reilly told EW.

Her mention of ending “this part of Yellowstone” is intriguing, especially with multiple spinoffs in development. One of them, a present-day series called The Madison, stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, and Matthew Fox.

From a streaming perspective, it makes sense for this version of Yellowstone to end, as it streams on Peacock, not Paramount+. Peacock holds the streaming rights to Yellowstone, but any new spinoffs, like the rumored Kelly Reilly/Cole Hauser-led series, would likely stream exclusively on Paramount+.

Will Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 Be On Peacock?

Yes, but the new season won’t be available for next-day streaming on Peacock. The midseason finale of Yellowstone aired on January 1, 2023, on Paramount Network, and the first eight episodes became available on Peacock on May 25, 2023. If the show follows a similar pattern, new episodes should arrive on Peacock about six months after the series finale airs on Paramount Network.

Yellowstone returns with new episodes on Sunday, November 10th at 8:00 p.m. ET on Paramount Network.
