'Yellowstone' star Cole Hauser says Matt Damon, Matthew McConaughey helped inspire wellness journey

In a recent interview with GQ, the “Yellowstone” actor shared how Matt Damon and Matthew McConaughey have influenced both his career and his personal well-being.

Hauser, who has worked with both Matt Damon and Matthew McConaughey on various projects over the years, said, “I’ve noticed that throughout their lives, they’ve always made a point to take care of themselves. Even if they enjoy a few drinks, they make sure to run it off the next day.”

He added, “Matthew [McConaughey] takes really good care of himself – I don’t think he even drinks caffeine. And Matty [Damon] has always stayed in great shape. When we did ‘School Ties’ together in the early ‘90s, he was one of the best players on the football field.”

Despite being in the industry for years, Hauser shared that he’s managed to avoid one of Hollywood’s major pitfalls: alcohol.

“Alcohol was a big thing in my community during the ’90s,” Hauser, who drinks “occasionally,” explained. “Everyone drank back then. But the real dangers were with people doing blow. That was never part of my group. It was just never around us.”

“And people smoked,” he added. “Back then, nobody really knew how bad smoking was. But cutting those things out of my life has made me a much better person. Now, I’d rather start my day with a cup of coffee. I wish I could drink it at night, but it keeps me up.”

“The thing is, I’m in a profession where you need to have all your faculties,” he explained. “The idea of being out of it and not thinking clearly doesn’t work for me. Acting is very intellectual, and if you’re not sharp, you won’t be as good as you want to be. That’s probably why I never cared for those things.”

These days, Hauser stays focused on his numerous projects, including the upcoming second half of the fifth season of “Yellowstone.”

In an interview with Fox News Digital last week, Hauser shared that the second half of the fifth season, set to premiere in November, will be “different from past seasons.”

“I just finished filming it 10 days ago, and I’ve been reflecting on what the season means,” Hauser said about the final episodes. “After seven years of doing this show, and with Taylor [Sheridan] being such an amazing writer, he’s done a fantastic job once again in trying to bring it all to a close.”

“It doesn’t tie up everything in a perfect bow, as it never does with ‘Yellowstone,’ but there are some truly dramatic and heartfelt moments. It’s definitely different from past seasons, but in a good way. I’m excited for the audience in the ‘Yellowstone’ world to see it and, hopefully, they’ll love it. That’s all you can really hope for.”
