Yesterday, we mentioned that Yellowstone star Cole Hauser is very interested in continuing his role as Rip Wheeler for a potential Season 6 — in whatever form that takes. For months, there have been rumors that both Hauser and his co-star Kelly Reilly could sign on for more, as long as Taylor Sheridan remains the writer. While some are calling it a possible Season 6, it could just as easily be a spin-off. After all, the teasers from early Season 5 hint that we may see the Dutton family story wrap up after many years.
So, why is Cole Hauser so eager to keep playing this character? A lot of it has to do with the uniqueness of the role, the setting, and the character itself. In an interview with Cigar Aficionado, Hauser shared his thoughts:
“I have the greatest office in the world. I’ve been saying that for seven years. I get to go out in nature, ride a horse, chase cows, cut rope, rein at times… it’s a very special role. At the same time, I remind myself that this is about as good as it gets.”
The reason we haven’t heard much about Season 6 or a spin-off is likely because discussions are still ongoing, and these things take time. For now, the remainder of Yellowstone Season 5 is set to air on November 10.
